GEDCOM X
Description
GEDCOM X is a series of specifications for an open data model and an open serialization format to support genealogical data communications. These specifications address a new file format as well as data models and protocols for data exchange between both online and offline systems.
This session will offer a report on the current status of the GEDCOM X project, including its goals and scope. The presentation will include an overview of the features and conceptual model, but will also leave a significant amount of time for Q&A.

Ryan Heaton
Ryan Heaton is a senior software engineer at FamilySearch. His current responsibilities are focused on enabling cross-platform genealogical data communications. To this end, he’s currently filling the role of tech lead for the GEDCOM X project and for the FamilySearch Developer Platform. His passion for APIs has influenced the FamilySearch Developer Platform since it’s inception, and he’s been also been invited to share his expertise at a handful of professional conferences and online publications around the world.
