Description
This workshop will provide an overview of metadata, its usefulness in managing photos and genealogical data, and how to create, edit and maintain metadata in a number of applications. After working hands on with a number of sample images, participants will gain understanding in the various metadata standards and how best to utilize the strengths of a number of freely available utilities. While the session will be focused on Microsoft Windows applications, the fundamentals will still apply to other operating systems

Randy Whited
Randy W. Whited has been an avid genealogist for over thirty years and is an active member of several genealogical organizations.
A Director with the Federation of Genealogical Societies, Randy is chairman of its Education committee. He is also the host of FGS’ web radio program, My Society.
He is also currently serving the Texas State Genealogical Society as webmaster and leading its technology initiatives.
A lifelong Texan, Randy is an alumnus of the University of Texas, having graduated with a BA in Astronomy. He resides in Pflugerville, Texas with his wife and twin daughters.
