Description

Families have recorded their stories through the word of mouth, print, film and audio for generations. Today genealogists use digital technology to integrate the pieces and bring family histories to life through video. More than a mere collection of sounds, images, dates, facts and narrative content, these videos showcase sources and tell the family history through new genealogical frameworks. Genealogists can share their family history with a global audience and preserve their research product in a cloud environment with the social media platform, YouTube. Using examples from genealogy videos, Patricia Van Skaik unlocks the world of YouTube genealogy.
