Developer Challenge 2014

The annual RootsTech Developer Challenge rewards developers who introduce the most innovative, new concepts to family history. We are excited to host this event again, now as part of the Innovator Summit and with even more compelling prizes!

The Problem

Millions of people around the world are interested in family history. These people need software solutions—on a desktop, online, or through mobile delivery—that help them engage and succeed in their efforts to discover, preserve, and share their family history.

The Challenge

Create an application or service that introduces a compelling new concept or innovation to family history.

Prizes:

Grand Prize

  • $2,000.
  • A Dell laptop computer.
  • Invitation to and recognition at the FamilySearch media dinner attended by VIPs, media, and official RootsTech bloggers.  
  • Extended presentation at the BackBlaze Demo Theater.
  • Recorded presentation of your solution to all RootsTech attendees during the keynote address on Friday morning.
  • Invitation to present at “Developer Challenge 2014 Winners Show and Tell“ session.

Second Prize

  • $1,000.
  • Invitation to and recognition at the FamilySearch media dinner attended by VIPs, media, and official RootsTech bloggers.  
  • Extended presentation time at the BackBlaze Demo Theater.
  • Recognition of your solution during the keynote address on Friday morning.

Third Prize

  • $500.

* Each of the three winners will receive flight and hotel accommodations, as needed, for up to two individuals.
